cake pops 1624

Red, white and blue sprinkles make treats festive for July 4 or Memorial Day, but we’re especially excited about these patriotic cake pops, which look like a fireworks display! Thank you to local San Diego food blogger, The Seaside Baker, for sharing her recipe.

Ingredients

White cake mix (prepared according to box directions)

2-3 Tbs. white frosting

11 oz. white chocolate chips

1 tsp. vegetable oil

Red, white and blue sprinkles

Cake pop sticks

Directions

  1. Allow cake to cool after baking according to box directions.

  2. Using a fork, crumble entire cake.

  3. Add frosting to crumbled cake.

  4. Mix well (I use my hand, until dough can be formed into balls).

  5. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with wax paper.

  6. Melt white chocolate chips and oil in a microwave safe bowl for 1 minute. Let sit for 1 minute, then stir until smooth.

  7. Dip sticks into melted chocolate and then push them into the cake pops.

  8. Refrigerate for hour.

  9. Re-melt white chocolate for 30-45 seconds and stir until smooth.

  10. Roll each cake pop in melted chocolate, allowing access to drip off.

  11. Add sprinkles quickly before chocolate hardens.

  12. Chill before serving.

I like to serve Red, White and Blue Cake Pops in clear mason jars and set them out so guests can help themselves.
