eggs 4

Decorate real eggs this Easter to look like sweet treats such as cupcakes, lollipops and wrapped candies.

Supplies
Eggs
Egg decorating kit/dye of choice
Small pieces of colored and clear cellophane
Baker’s twine
Lollipop sticks
Mini cupcake liners
Frosting or icing (can be made to desired consistency with powdered sugar and water)
Sprinkles and/or small candies
Scissors
Optional: circle stickers, adhesive dots.

Directions
1. Hard boil eggs and dye them as desired; allow them to dry completely.

2. To make wrapped “candies”, wrap eggs in small pieces of cellophane and tie short pieces of colored twine on both sides of each egg.

3. For a lollipop, use a dot of frosting to attach a sucker stick to the bottom of an egg. After the frosting dries, carefully wrap the egg with cellophane and tie it closed with a piece of twine as pictured. If the lollipop stick won’t stay with frosting, use one craft adhesive dot instead.

4. To create a “cupcake”, sit a dyed egg into several unseparated mini cupcake liners, (one liner won’t be strong enough to hold the egg up). Then, decorate the egg with frosting, small candies and sprinkles.

5. Temporarily use the “sweet treats” as a pretty display or centerpiece, until you’re ready to remove the decorations and make a tasty egg salad!

More ideas
Try this project with plastic eggs.

Use food coloring to make dots or swirls onto the colored eggs, or make dots by putting little circle stickers on eggs before dyeing, then removing them after eggs dry.

Add cute faces to the cupcake and candy wrappers.

Add little stickers to the outside of the cellophane wrap.

Make small labels with cute candy names and attach them to the treats.

Add a name tag to each treat for fun table place markers or party favors.

Instead of cellophane, use plastic food wrap, waxed paper or tissue.

Use string, twist ties or yarn in place of baker’s twine.
