Art with Alyssa: Tiger Craft

These adorable tigers can be used as place cards or napkin rings for a zoo- or jungle-themed kids party, or even to celebrate Chinese (Lunar) New Year—2022 is the Year of the Tiger!

Supplies

Cardboard tube (toilet paper tube); one per tiger

Orange, yellow, white, pink and black acrylic paint (acrylic works best)

Pencil

Scissors

Markers

Optional: Googly eyes and glue

Directions

Paint the entire tube orange, inside and out; Allow to dry completely.
Temporarily flatten the tube. Using the template below, (click here to download printable pdf) either draw from sight (with light pencil) or trace half the tiger (head, tail, two legs and belly) onto the tube.
Cut out the tiger, pop open the tube and fold the head shape down, as shown in photos above.
Add details with paint such as a white muzzle, black triangular stripes, eyes, nose, mouth and color inside the ears. Use photos as a guide, or create your own.
Allow to dry completely. If you’re using Googly eyes, glue them in place.
