Candace Cameron Bure
enjoys a ‘Full House’ as mother, wife and writer
She is known to millions for her role as sunny, fresh-faced DJ Tanner on the hit 1980s sitcom “Full House” and for her recent roles in such films as “Moonlight and Mistletoe” and television productions like “Make It or Break It.”
Now, Candace Cameron Bure, 34, has successfully re-shaped her life and career to include the titles of wife, mother, national bestselling author and successful entrepreneur.
“I loved acting. My family just fell into it; my parents did not have an entertainment background. I never felt pressure to do it and always knew I could stop at any time. It was always ‘as long as you’re having fun.’ It was a wonderful experience,” Cameron Bure says of her work on “Full House.”
In addition to raising three children with husband and former NHL player Valeri Bure, Cameron Bure is
staying busy with a number of projects, including the launch of her new online magazine: RooMag.com.
“I really created the magazine because I wanted a place for women to come to talk about being a mom. From my heart, I hold traditional, old-fashioned values and I want this [magazine] to be a celebration and confirmation of those values,” Cameron Bure says.
The online publication features fun, informational articles on everything from being a wife and mother, to matters of hearth, home, happiness and good health.
Cameron Bure says her writing contributions detailing her life as a working wife and mother “will be splashed throughout” the online publication.
“I hope [readers] will come back to the website every day to be inspired,” Cameron Bure says.
Writing has become much more than a hobby for the actress. Cameron Bure’s book “Reshaping It All: Motivation for Physical and Spiritual Fitness” spent considerable time on the New York Times’ best sellers list.
“It’s about bringing faith together with fitness and talking about how I brought faith to the forefront of my journey with food,” Cameron Bure says, adding that she is currently writing a second book that will address the issues of balancing the challenges of work and motherhood.
“I don’t think you can perfectly balance life. Sometimes something has got to give,” she says.
The actress says that, along with having an active husband who is invested in the family, she strives to achieve balance by making lists of what is most important.
“I’ve learned to set priorities. I will have an absolutely crazy day and have to ask myself ‘what can give and what can’t?’’’ she says. “Family is a priority. If something comes along that compromises the family, then it has to go.”
Cameron Bure advises other busy wives and moms that pursuing life’s little pleasures is also a crucial aspect to achieving balance and keeping it all in perspective. “When I do have a free day, working out is a big part of my life. I strive for fitness every morning. I go shopping by myself; it’s therapeutic for me. And I love reading.”
